I have a vintage U.S. Air Force MARS Station from Kodiak, Alaska that
left service in the late 1970's. It was owned by KL7GSC/AFL7GSC-SK and
I have the original letter of disposal by the Air Force from the 7th of
June 1978. The station equipment was built in 1960 under contract for
the U.S. Air Force by the Radio Engineering Laboratory. It is a model
REL S-119 Amateur-Special SSB Communications System. It is composed of
an Eldico R-104 Receiver, Eldico T-102 Transmitter, Eldico P-109 Power
Supply, Eldico M-135 Control Box, DelCon T-210 1.5KW Linear Amplifier
and its DelCon PS-210 Power Supply. Pictures of an S-119 system can be
found 1/3rd of the way down this page http://www.ia.net/~wbsorsby/N5BU/
. I have the original manuals for both the Eldico radios and the Delcon
amplifier. I've gone through the receiver and cleaned it up enough
(without damaging the original markings) for it to operate. I have not
gone through the transmitter except to lightly blow the dust out of it
and clean the bug goo from the outside of the chassis. Most of the
transmitter tubes light but a couple intermediate stages do not. I have
not even tried to power up the amplifier. It has a little dust and some
cobwebs but is still in excellent condition. Also with the KL7GSC
estate went a DuMont Labs Type-304A Cathode Ray Oscilligraph which works
nicely, however it is in need of a good calibration. The station also
has a Precision Apparatus Series E-200-C Signal Marking Generator. I
have all this equipment housed in a telco 19" metal equipment cabinet
and want to sell the whole thing for $2500. I have too many electrical
and electronic projects and the proceeds from the sale of this complete
vintage MARS station from Kodiak Alaska will go towards the purchase of
a 348 volt, 2000 amp motor controller for my electric powered 1980 Pinto
Dragster project. E-mail me at electrabishi at ak.net
<mailto:electrabishi at ak.net> to set up a time to come see the
equipment. I would first like to offer this station to the Alaska Ham
community but if I get no responses I'll put it up for bids on e-Bay.
