Phillip Mannie, 50

Anchorage resident Phil Mannie, 50, was found in his home Aug. 23, 2006, after 
he suffered a heart attack.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Anchorage Funeral Home,

A private service will take place in Minnesota with burial at the Lakeside 
Cemetery in Herman, Minn., next to his parents.

Mr. Mannie was born March 15, 1956, to Virgil and Alice (Maxfield) Mannie Jr. 
in Minneapolis. Mr. Mannie moved to Anchorage around 1980 and has lived here 
since.

He had eclectic taste in music and graduated from the University of Wisconsin 
Madison with a master's degree in music. He trained as a classical concert 
pianist and performed a number of concerts in his younger days. He enjoyed 
sharing his love of classical music with his family.

He also enjoyed history, meteorology, cats, ham radio and a fine cigar.

Mr. Mannie spent a lot of time with the Anchorage Amateur Radio Club and 
assisted with statewide emergency disaster drills.

He had been employed by KTUU-TV since 1990 as a systems analyst.

Mr. Mannie is survived by his sister, June Drexler of Elbow Lake, Minn.; 
niece, Jane Drexler Hammer of Wendell, Minn.; nephews, Lance Drexler of Battle 
Lake, Minn., Shane Drexler of Ashby, Minn.; aunts and uncles and other 
relatives; and many friends and co-workers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Alice; uncle, Roger 
Mannie; and brother-in-law, Lloyal Drexler.
