Greetings;

I just wanted to thank TJ Sheffield, KL7TS, and the rest of the crew
(KL1IL, KL7TQ, KL0DA, KL4C, KL7MM, KL0VZ, KL1JX, KL7LK and N9RNL...
forgive me if I've forgotten anyone) for their efforts in support of the
Friends of Pets Dog Jog communications and logistics this year.

This event is rather unique in light of the evolution of cooperation
between the event organizers and amateur radio communication. Over the
years we have become responsible for more than just communication. We
mark the trail, transport material and refreshments for wo/men and dogs
and clean up behind them, as well as offering amateurs the opportunity
to learn how to set up a repeater, erect and guy an antenna mast... and
deal with the particular challenges each year offers. Essentially, this
equates to riding about a nice park on the tail-gate of Dave's (KL0DA)
pickup with intervals of modest work.

While there are well reasoned opinions suggesting that amateur radio
limit itself to communication support only, I'd opine that in
non-emergency, public service operations we can and should offer as much
as we're willing to deliver, and deliver a bit more than we promise.

BTW, I could still use a couple of volunteers for the Alaska 10k,
Saturday, August 6... 3 hour show, no heavy lifting.

73,
phil
