[KL7AA] Re-Start for the Iditarod

Hello All Hams,

Just wanted to let you know that the Re-Start for the Iditarod, this Sunday
March 7th, will be in Willow.  Please let me know ASAP if you can
help.  Hopefully we will have places in Willow to spend the night for all
the Ham Volunteers that can make it.  The Iditarod folks expect the Parks
Highway to become gridlocked as early as 5:30 am when all the Mushers and
their handlers start showing up.  Let's see, 87 Mushers times 16 dogs and
throw in a few extras and there will be over 1400 dogs-WOW!  You know there
will be some barking going on, so bring ear buds, speaker mics, or headsets
for your radios.  They are planning on running shuttle buses from Wasilla,
and they are encouraging car pools.

Willow Elementary School's PTA will be serving an all you can eat,
"Breakfast Buffet" at the school.  They will be serving Pancakes, Eggs,
Sausage, Fruit, Coffee, and Juice from 5:00 am till 10:00 am.  It's a
fundraiser and they are charging $8 for adults and $5 for children under 10.
Be sure to bring plenty of warm layered cloths, boots, hats, and gloves.
It's also a good idea to have with you something to drink and snacks.

If you can, go to http://www.iditarod.com/volunteers.html and then click on
the Volunteer Applications for ----------- Anchorage & Trail and fill out
the form.  You can E-mail me, call me by phone, or on the 147.27 repeater.
That repeater has a plus split and requires a 103.5 tone.

At this time I plan to have a meeting in Anchorage, before the AARC meeting
Friday night, one in Wasilla Saturday afternoon, and one in Willow at the
Community Center 8:00 pm Saturday night.
