Subject: Request for sked with Olin, K4OWP
John,
We talked on the telephone a few weeks ago. I was calling from
Georgia, and attempting to locate Lee Johnston, N5JUM. You
explained that he has moved to California. My reason for calling
was to request a sked contact on 30m CW.
In our conversation you offered to pass my request to friends in
your area if I would send an email with the details. Thus, my present
note.
My rig is Homebrew QRP 5w (from scratch, based on the designs of
Wes Hayward, W7ZOI). The rig is a 3-band transceiver (40/30/20),
and am attempting to WAS, all CW, on each band. I have AK contacts
logged on 40 and 20, and would like to sked one for 30m.
My CW is not good, about 12-13wpm, and I will be pleased to go a
lot slower !!. I am semi-retired, and can be available at any time of
the day. At 5w, my signal will be weak, and may require a lot of patience
as well as very good ears.
If you will please pass this note to friends in your area, I would be
pleased
to hear from any one of them (several of them would be even better, hi hi).
There are two operators in Alaska that I would like to exclude from
the above request. Both great gentlemen, they earlier helped me log the
20m and 40m contacts. I am already greatly in their debt, and would not
wish to further impose on there good nature. They are Les Buchholz , KL7J,
in Soldnota; and Bob Prescott, WL7WH, in Anchorage. If you ever meet
either Les or Bob in a bar, please buy them a glass of the best scotch
available and send me the bill !!!
Thanks very much for your help.
