All,
There are several important changes this year:

First: the checkpoints are now named to match the bib colors, thus the full 
Marathon in the Blue trail and the Half Marathon is the Red Trail.  Two 
years ago we named the checkpoints to match the color of the lines on the 
map (which did not match the bib colors)  The Marathon has now changed the 
colors on the maps to match the bib colors and we are following suit.  See

Second:  there is a mass start of BOTH the walkers and runners on the Full 
Marathon at 8:00 AM.  This means that the later check points will run a 
little longer.  As before, the Tank Trail checkpoints must all be in 
position before the start they close it to vehicle traffic at about 7:30AM.

Third:  The 147.300 KL7ION (PARKA) repeater now has the tone turned on to 
mitigate interference problems. If you are on the Blue (Full Marathon) 
Trail, your radio must send a 141.3Hz tone or you will not bring up the 
repeater.

Fourth:  it may rain this year... which WILL be a blessing for the runners. 
 Bring rain gear or an umbrella or we will blame it on you!

Fifth:  We will be providing ALL of the comms for the Medical / EMT 
support.  Routine traffic will be on the normal net.  Any emergency traffic 
or calls to Medic Base at the finish line will be on the 147.57 / 447/57 
cross band repeater and you MUST HAVE a 103.5Hz tone on transmit. 
Checkpoints will talk/listen on 147.57 simplex and the base will use the 
other side of the crossband at 447.57 also with 103.5Hz tone.

Since Field Day lands on the same day and will be at Wasilla, we are short 
of volunteers.  We have dropped the APRS and ATV the will use the available 
folks to cover the checkpoints.  Look at the list and help us out if you 
can, by volunteering to fill the holes provide a second person at, or being 
a floater to cover no shows.

We will have a conference call to answer questions and give last minute 
info on Friday at 8PM.  This is courtesy of ENSTAR and this number should 
only be used this one time.  Call on 334-7732 and when you hear the tone 
you are on the bridge.
