You are all invited to participate in the HAM radio support of the Mayor's
marathon again this year on Saturday June 22. I spoke today to the
organizer and he was very pleased with everything last year and is hoping
for a repeat performance this year. The pattern is unchanged from last
year, except that Field Day will be run from a Wasilla location rather than
a co-location with the finish of the Mayor's Marathon at Romig Middle
School. This will add some challenge for the people that wish to
participate in both events. We can place the net control almost anywhere
for the FULL Marathon on the 147.300 repeater (pretty please Lil). I am
wishing out loud that KL7TS will net control the simplex net for the Half
Marathon and Fun Run from his home, which is ideally located in the
Turnagain area. We will also again provide comms for the Alaska
Professional Volunteers medical support, I hope again using the 147.57
cross band link (pretty please Jim).
We want to involve new HAMs and those who have not participated before by
placing them with an "old timer" at the various checkpoints, who will
provide equipment and council as needed. Whatever your status, please
advise if you wish to participate and if you have any preference for a
location. Please also pass this message to others who can help and
especially new HAMs. Please use the following ling for more information.:
