[Kenwood] Loose RIT/XIT control on TS590SG

Is there a way to tighten the mounting nut on this control without
completely disassembling the radio?

 

The control itself is loose, it's not a knob problem.

 

When I pulled the knob off, I can see the threads on the control, but I
can't reach the nut with anything in my tool box due to a recessed flange
that is part of the plastic of the front panel.

 

If you want to see what I'm describing, the knob is not held on by a set
screw, it just pulls off.

 

Any suggestions for tightening the control will be appreciated.
