[Kenwood] TS-930S

I owned one for a while some years ago along with a bunch of TS-940's.
In their day they were a very nice radio and a strong performer
generally. Today their shortcomings are a bit more noticeable. Filter
blow by and AGC pumping, particularly in a heavy pile up or contest
condition can soon become quite annoying. The lack of a second receiver
that only came with the TS-950 is a bit of an issue with dx chasing for
some. The 940 could do pc control with some options fitted but this is
only possible on a 930 with a 3rd party board I think.

The power supply shortcomings are well known and you would be advised to
read the extensive document prepared by W6NL
https://www.kkn.net/~k5tr/ts930fix/w6nl930.pdf
This explains the power supply problems with over dissipated components
and generally a less than stellar design.

If one of the regulator devices fail you can easily get 40 volts on the
rather sensitive 28 volt max drivers. Minimal power out is a symptom of
just such a failure.
