Date: Sat, 6 Nov 2021 14:05:31 -0400 Subject: [Kenwood] Inrad filter for R-5000 receiver question Message-ID: Hello to the group I have a chance to get an Inrad 4kc plugin filter. I already have the upgraded 6kc Inrad filter installed and I want to keep it. Question: If the 4kc filter was removed from its board, could it be then wired into an empty optional filter slot in the receiver. I'm thinking that the stock 2.4kc narrow filter would have to be moved down the filter line and the 4kc installed in its place. I'm trying to obtain 6kc and 4kc bandwidths. Kenwood TM-281, 2 meter FM Transcevier: The TM-281 is a current 2 meter 65 Watt FM Mobile Transceiver with 200 memories and weather alert. It complies with rugged military standards, and has a front firing speaker that sounds great. The built in CTCSS and DCS encoder /decoder covers 42 CTCSS sub-tone frequencies and 104 DCS sub-tone frequencies. Features: Power-on Message Wide/Narrow Deviation Selection 1750 Hz Tone Burst Automatic Simplex Checker Reverse Function Auto Repeater Offset Beep On/Off Auto Power Off Time-Out Timer Channel Display Mode Busy Channel Lockout Memory Channel Lockout MR-shift Direct Frequency Entry Key Lock This one works as it should. Cosmetically it is excellent, but there is some dirt behind the speaker that does not want to come off. It includes DTMF lighted microphone, mobile bracket, power cord, and paperwork for only $125. . InRad CW Filter for Kenwood: This CW filter is 400 Hz wide, striking a good middle ground between 500 or 600 Hz filters, and 250 Hz filters. In addition to CW, it can also be used for narrow digital work. It is an InRad filter, which most people consider superior to other filters. It was used in a Kenwood TS-940, although I am fairly certain that it can be used in most other Kenwood rigs, and probably some non-Kenwood rigs as well. It works fine, and looks great as well. InRad 88 H 400 This one is used on the 8800 KHz IF, and is 400 Hz wide as well. $100 . Linear Amp Switching Cables for Kenwood Rigs: This cable goes from a Kenwood transceiver to a linear amplifier to switch the amp from transmit to receive. One end has a DIN connector, as is used with most Kenwood rigs. The other end has an RCA phono plug, as used by most linear amplifiers. Before using this cable, please check the switching capabilities of your transceiver, and the requirements of your amplifier. Cable for switching the T/R relay Only $15. Cable with ALC control, in addition to T/R switching. $20 . Crystals: I have a set of three crystals that are used to return the Kenwood Hybrid rigs to 10 meters, after they have had the original crystals changed to 11 meters. Specifically, they are HC-25 crystals for 33.50, 34.00, and 34.50 MHz. They are labeled as being for the TS-820, but I think all of the hybrids use the same frequencies. These crystals are $35 for the set of three. . Kenwood Heavy Duty Weighted Tuning Knob: This knob is a special tuning knob, about 2 1/4 inches in diameter, so just right for most Kenwood rigs. It is weighted, so one can give it a spin, and it continues to go. This one looks perfect, and is still in its plastic bag. Only $80. . I have parts for a Kenwood TS-440 available. Hopefully we can keep a couple units working and looking nice using these parts. The complete "back end" is available. This includes the finals and associated PC boards, the large heat sink, the power connector, and other parts on the back of the rig. The rear part of the bottom cover is presently available. It looks very nice, and might improve the looks of your rig. The small little silver rectangular buttons are still available. The complete final module and heat sink assembly is available. The "IF" internal PC board is available as well. Most small PC boards, such as selectivity switch, mic jack, front panel push buttons, etc. are available. The automatic antenna tuner is NOT available. Please let me know what you need. . I also have many other accessories available such as many different types of microphones, HTs, VHF and UHF rigs, HF and VHF/UHF antennas, connectors, miscellaneous accessories, etc. Just too many to list here. Please e-mail your requests. . Prices do not include shipping from Florida. Thanks. 73, Ken, W8EK Ken Simpson E-mail to W8EK at FLHam.net or W8EK at arrl.net Voice Phone (352) 732-8400 . .
