This radio was manufactured in Aug, 1992 (TS-950SDX manufacture date was 1992-199X, so this one is very early). Here's how the Kenwood serial no. schedule for the 950/850 radios worked back in the 1990s: Kenwood serial number decoder

YY = Production Month
ZZZZZ = sequence in production for that month
