I have a TS-520S but have had little trouble with it so am not
very knowledgeable. In general I would suggest cleaning the band
switch with Deoxit. May take several doses. Work the switch many
times (ten or fifteen) each time.
The calibrator feeds directly into the antenna input so it
gives a pretty good idea of how well the receiver is working. It
is conceivable there is a bad crystal but that would not affect
more than one band. Simplest is to clean the band switches and
see if it does not clear up the problem.
