Purchased in June 2018, and almost from day one, very difficult to keep ALC setting within the prescribed limits (2 bars) in WSJT instruction. Recently, especially when making multiple (4+) transmissions, the ALC will fluctuate from zero to full scale. Allowing 30 seconds - 1 minute, after fluctuation, none noticed until 4+ transmissions are made? No change in SWR, just ALC fluctuation, and power output? Using direct USB connection, between radio and computer. No external digital interface involved. Also, check the power supply voltage at the TS-590S molex connector to make sure it isn't drifting down. Might also post this on the TS-590 groups.io. 73, Steve, N2IC On 04/12/2020 06:15 AM, ShelbyK4WW wrote: > Corrected post to correctly identify radio! > > Experiencing intermittent, but drastic, ALC fluctuations when operating > FT4/8. Kenwood MC-80 Desk Microphone: The Kenwood MC-80 is an omnidirectional electret condenser desk mic. It features up-down tuning on compatible Kenwood transceivers and a built-in pre-amp. It has a potentiometer adjustment on the rear panel to adjust the output level. There is a switch for PTT and also a lock feature. The frequency response is 200 Hz to 7 kHz. The mic terminates with a round 8 pin mic plug. It obtains its operating voltage from the Kenwood rig. This particular mic works like it should, and looks fine. Buy it with paper work for only $75 . Hand Microphone with round 8 pin plug for Kenwood, Alinco, etc. This hand mic works great on most Kenwood rigs with the round 8 pin connector, such as the TS-440, TM-241, TM-2530, TW-4000, and others, including Alinco and ADI. It says "Electret Condenser Mic" on the back, and "Kenwood" on the front, with no model number. Basically, this mic functions like an MC-43, with a couple more features. It has the mic and PTT switch; it also has up/down switches on the top. There are four "extra" buttons labeled Call, VFO, MR, and PF. What these four buttons do depends on the rig. There is also a "Lock" switch on the back. Regardless if you use the four extra buttons or not, you still have a mic that works like an MC-43. This mic works fine, and looks like new. I am guessing it came with a rig, and was immediately put in the drawer, and never used. Only $30. . . Kenwood YG-455-C 1 This plug in filter is 500 hz wide for CW and digital modes.
