Kenwood MC-60 A Desk Microphone: The Kenwood MC-60 A has been a popular desk mic for many years. It has a communication type dynamic unidirectional moving coil type mic element. It features UP-DOWN tuning and a built-in pre-amp. There is a PTT switch that also has a lock feature. The mic impedance may be set for 50K ohms or 500 ohms. The frequency response is 150 Hz-10 kHz with the preamp off and 200 Hz- 7 kHz with the preamp on. The heavy zinc die-cast base provides extra stability. The preamp requires two AA cells which are mounted through the bottom of the base, but are not needed with most Kenwood rigs that provide a DC voltage in the mic connector. It has a round 8 pin plug. Cosmetically, I do not find a scratch on this one; there is slight wear near the PTT switch. This one also has a nice large gray wind sock, along with paper work for only $95. . Alinco EMS-14 Deluxe Desk Microphone Alinco EMS-14 Desk Microphones are a perfect match for your Alinco base station, but it also has the same connection as Kenwood and will work great with Kenwood rigs. Round 8 pin connector. It has a momentary PTT and a PTT lock, along with up-down frequency buttons. Your rig supplies power to the microphone element and to the transmit-indicator LED. Microphone audio contour is switchable for SSB/FM, and a gain control under the base lets you adjust the microphone output. Non-skid rubber feet help to keep your microphone right where you want it. This one works 100% and looks like it just came out of the box new. MSRP is $180, but they usually sell for $120. Buy this one, with paper work, for $80. . Kenwood MC-43 Hand Microphone: The Kenwood MC-43 is the standard hand microphone that comes with most of Kenwood's radios when new. It has a round 8 pin connector, and is a dynamic microphone. It has up and down buttons on the top to change frequency, as well as the PTT switch on the side. This one works 100% and appears to be close to new. With paper work for only $35. . Hand Microphone with round 8 pin plug for Kenwood, Alinco, etc. This hand mic works great on most Kenwood rigs with the round 8 pin connector, such as the TS-440, TM-241, TM-2530, TW-4000, and others, including Alinco and ADI. It says "Electret Condenser Mic" on the back, and "Kenwood" on the front, with no model number. Basically, this mic functions like an MC-43, with a couple more features. It has the mic and PTT switch; it also has up/down switches on the top. There are four "extra" buttons labeled Call, VFO, MR, and PF. What these four buttons do depends on the rig. There is also a "Lock" switch on the back. Regardless if you use the four extra buttons or not, you still have a mic that works like an MC-43. This mic works fine, and looks like new. I am guessing it came with a rig, and was immediately put in the drawer, and never used. $30 . SMC-30 Speaker Microphone Fits TH-21, TH-41, TH-215, TH-225, TH-415, TR-2600, and many other Kenwood HTs. It has 3.5 mm and 2.5 mm plugs molded together. It works fine, and is in good condition. $20 . I also have many other accessories available such as many different types of microphones, HTs, VHF and UHF rigs, HF and VHF/UHF antennas, connectors, miscellaneous accessories, etc. Just too many to list here. One of the three radios will only power on intermittently.? When you can get it to power on, you can then power it off, on, off, on, seemingly forever.? If you leave it turned on, it will eventually turn itself off.? It's not the control head, I've swapped them around.? I've done factory resets on it and that has no effect, although the reset does work if you catch the radio in the right mood. I have not opened up the radio for a look around.? When retired it had, and stil has, need of L6 on the second IF, audio board. L6 is the same as L4 and L5 and is a 6mm cube can at 8.83MHz but in the L6 position tuned to 8.375 to inject CAR4 into the first TX mixer. I've seen complete boards on eBay but consider that total overkill for just one transformer. Wonder if someone might have a bad board they could pull parts from? My other thought is to maybe wind something on a tiny toroid. What say? Second question concerns the display. It's working fine now the leaky caps have been replaced and the failed vias rewired but I find the contrast strange. It's okay if my eyes are in line with the display or below it but I see every segment of the entire display as soon as my eyes are higher then the display. This doesn't seem right and I'm sure it should have a wider vertical viewing angle. Any ideas? I have a 5 MHz output vfo that is used in the Kenwood ts 820 and 520. It's complete and I have some of the dial as well. Would be an easy project for any rig that could use a remote vfo. Kenwood TM-261, 2 m FM Transceiver The Kenwood TM-261A 2 meter transceiver. is fully equipped, sturdily built and supremely user-friendly. It provides 50 watts output (50/10/5 watts). All 61 memory channels can be identified alphanumerically. The TM-261A includes airband receive, public service and weather (receive 118 to 174 MHz), with auto-power off and auto repeater offset. It has many scan modes. Size: 5.5 x 1.7 x 6.7 inches, 2.2 lbs. It requires 13.8 VDC at 11 Amps. Features includes: 61 Memories Multi Scanning DTMF Memory Auto Power Off DTSS Selective Call CTCSS Tone Encode Auto Repeater Offset Repeater Reverse Switch This one works fine and looks fine. Measured power out is 60/17/7 W. With mobile bracket, mic, power cord and paper work for $95. . . This one also has a nice large gray wind sock, along with paper work for only $90. . Only $30. . . Linear Amp Switching Cables for Kenwood Rigs: This cable goes from a Kenwood transceiver to a linear amplifier to switch the amp from transmit to receive. One end has a DIN connector, as is used with most Kenwood rigs. The other end has an RCA phono plug, as used by most linear amplifiers. Before using this cable, please check the switching capabilities of your transceiver, and the requirements of your amplifier. Cable for switching the T/R relay Only $15. Cable as above, but with ALC line in addition to T/R switching. $20 . . I also have many other accessories available such as many different types of microphones, HTs, VHF and UHF rigs, HF and VHF/UHF antennas, connectors, miscellaneous accessories, etc. Just too many to list here. Please e-mail your requests. . Prices do not include shipping from Florida. Thanks. 73, Ken, W8EK Ken Simpson E-mail to W8EK at FLHam.net or W8EK at arrl.net Voice Phone (352) 732-8400 . .
