So far, the only thing I can see wrong with the 830, besides the need to
clean the various controls and switches, is the Send/Receive switch on
the left side.
The send/receive switch snaps into a detent for the RX position, but
does not have such a detent on the TX position..and activating the TX
function this way is rather intermittent.
I don't know if the switch is broken, or just so dirty that it doesn't
move properly.
..good RX sensitivity on all bands, good frequency accuracy and
tracking, good power output on all bands, no crazy jumping around of
the frequency as the VFO dial is moved, good carrier and opposite
sideband suppression...
There may be other stuff not quite right as I haven't fully checked it
out after (carefully) powering it up.

June 30, 2013, at 4:42pm AZ time, 19 of the 20 members of the Granite
Mountain Hotshot Crew (wildland fire fighters) lost their lives fighting
the Yarnell Hill Fire.
My wife and I made the somber hike into the site where they lost their
lives.
The place is now a state memorial park accessed via an almost 8 mile
long trail.
