Correction to my previous post:
Kenwood Service West (for amateur radio service, in- and out of warranty) is no longer located in Long Beach, CA. They are evidently now using an independent contractor called FTH Group, based in City of Industry, CA (that's an area just east of LA).
The current address is listed on the Kenwood website (under amateur radio repair service):
FTH Group
Kenwood Authorized Service Center Pacific 20801 Currier RoadCity of Industry, CA 91789
(there is a website that allows you to enter all pertinent service request information and generate a RMA (return authorization) number. Make sure to get an RMA No. before shipping any gear back for service.
Thanks to all who responded to my request for Kenwood in-warranty repair info.

Subject: Re: Kenwood service request - correction
Hi - thanks to all who recommended Clif (Avid) and other private repair techs working on Kenwood amateur radios. Unfortunately, I need IN-WARRANTY service for a newer Kenwood radio purchased within the last few months. Kenwood used to have a factory authorized service center in Virginia Beach, VA (Kenwood Service Center East). I learned from one of the large mail order ham retailers that this facility has closed permanently. This leaves ONLY the Kenwood Service Center in Long Beach, CA doing in-warranty service. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for all who replied.
