What I meant to say that the FEMALE receptacles on the aftermarket power 
cables and plugs are usually to large to make a good fit onto the radio male 
pins. I've got lots of defective ones purchased from various internet 
sources that are not the right size.

The male pins are probably too small. That is a BIG problem with aftermarket
plugs and cables.

Thank you for the suggestions.  Turns out the six pin power cable/plug went
bad.

I made a new cable with a new plug and so far testing (abt 40mins) into a
dummy load looks good.
