[Kenwood] TS-990S

Hi all,

      Well, my TS950SDX, which is out for repair needs a part that 
Kenwood no longer offers (nobody else makes it either, and I can't 
find a used one), so I sold it to the repair facility for what I 
consider a decent price for a non-working radio.

      I am toying with the idea of getting a pre-owned TS-990S.  What 
are the pros & cons that you have experienced with this radio 
???  Are there serial number ranges that I should avoid  ???   How do 
you decipher the manufacturing date based on the serial number ???
