[Kenwood] TS-440S Questions

Hello Wesley,

I access the ts-440 groups by clicking onto the 'more' tab and then clicking on 'GROUPS'. That should bring up all that you are a part of. Scroll down to the ts-440 group. Click on show all, after the name. You can do a search using the search field higher up on the page. Hope this helps.
1. I use an old Heathkit speaker model HS-1661 because I had it. Works great. I'm not familiar with the ones you mention. In my opinion for me I want one that has enough lows and highs. Basically try a couple and tune in qso's and determine which sounding speaker you like. Which one gives you the easiest and comfortable audio to let you hear the signals in the noise the best.
2. I happen to have a MC-60 mic with a Heil HC-4 cartridge. It works real well. I always get good audio reports. The problem is that Heil doesn't make the HC-4 any longer but I think the HC-5 replaces it. You'll have to research and verify this. I haven't tried it on AM so I can't comment about it for this mode, just SSB.
3. It's been a long time since I did anything with the filters so I googled 'ts-440 filter installation' and allot comes up. It's easy enough that you should be able to do this yourself! If you have the owners manual, check pages 27 & 28 on how to do it. If you don't have the manual, you can find it free on line.

      2- Which Microphone or Cartridge works best on SSB, which one on AM ??

      3- I have an Crystal Filter that needs to be installed, can anyone
tell me where I can find an Certified Tech that can install my Filter.. I
am in the Raleigh, N.C. area..
