[Kenwood] TS-430S & Transverters

I just got a 2 meter transverter. And am gathering parts to put it to 
work with my 430S, But I have a question.

I tried joining the TS-430 yahoo group but I guess it's been abandoned 
because need to be OK'ed to join and whoever is the moderator is dead at 
he wheel,  anyway I ask here,

I have a TS-430S and I just got a 2 meter transverter I'd like to gook 
up to it, but I am not sure on this question..

There I have read that when you plug in the connector into the 
transverter connection, that it disables the main HF power amps, bla bla 
bla,

Now, is this disableing of the main HF system is it a mechanical 
operation similar to like the audio path in a headphone jack and a 
speaker, or is it an electrical method that causes the disabling?
