OK what does VR2 actually do?

My understanding is that VR2 should be adjusted so that when the rig is 
put into transmit mode there is no change in freq from when it is in the 
rcv state  yes?

3.CAR  TC4 & TC3 Other places say they can indeed be adjusted by Ear 
also and be pretty close, there is  a very obvious difference when 
switching between the sidebands if they are not exactly the same.

Also since it did nothing when adjusted, what does VR1 do?
