[Kenwood] Kenwood 590 USB socket

I recently borrowed a Kenwood 590. I want to try using the USB port. To try to see if the size and type of USB connector is a male standard one, I tried plugging a thumb drive in to the port with out the power on and it didn't fit. I then tried the male end of a USB to mini cable that I have and it didn't fit either. What type of USB cable do I need, and where can I get one. Thanks and 73. Joe.
