[Kenwood] TS-940 Tuning Problem

Hello all,

I have a TS-940S with a 9 mil serial number. This particular radio usually 
sits to the side unused/unpowered as it is a back up radio. It was 
previously working satisfactorily but today I noticed that the VFO tuning is 
no longer working properly.

Regardless of band or mode, the tuning is pretty much stuck on the same 
frequency. Spinning the tuning knob changes frequency maybe a couple of kHz 
at most.

I opened the radio, tapped on the boards, wiggled some harnesses and 
connectors but nothing helped. F.LOCK is not activated. Depressing that 
definitely locks down the frequency. Depressing it again puts the radio back 
in this sort of unstable tuning state where the frequency can barely be 
changed.

The radio seems to be receiving fine when I can get the VFO to a signal.

Can someone point me toward some things to check please? Thanks very much.
