Hell all,

My 14 year old Technician class son has a TS440 that is exhibiting
distorted RX audio on all bands and modes.
This unit does not have any epoxy issues. There is absolutely no epoxy
in or around the VCO components.
I attempted to adjust the can on VCO 5. this did not remedy the problem.

Following the directions from the following website.......
http://www.oz1bxm.dk/TS440/TS440S_Repair_FAQ.pdf

The most common symptom is the PLL unlock. Reset the transceiver by
holding in the A=B button as
power is turned on. Even if the display only shows decimals, only the
(band pass filter) BPF for 14 MHz
should be turned on. Using a DC voltmeter, measure the voltage at coils
L11, L15, L21, L28, L34, L40,
L46, L52, L58, and L62. Only coil L52 should measure 8 Vdc. The other
coils should read 0 Vdc

All voltages check out Ok. I am still recieving garbled audio..

I was wondering if anyone in the group has run across this issue and
could point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Matt N3BHM
