[Kenwood] Crackling noise in TS-50

I have a TS-50 that suddenly developed a problem of "crackling" noise in Rx.  Removed antenna connection, changed bands and the noise is still there.  Also, the rig takes a few seconds for the audio to come to full volume.

I suspect an electrolytic cap is going south, but I'm curious if it might not be a filter in the Filter Unit?????

The radio has full output and works fb...........other than this newly developed crackling sound.  I can also hear it in the speaker when in Tx mode.

Any thoughts?
