I went into the special service menu in my Kenwood TS-570DG to check and see
if the output power was still set per the factory specs, which is under menu
#18. It was correctly set to 118 which corresponds with normal 100 watts
output in CW mode. I did tweak up the output power setting from 118 to 143
and that raised the output power to 125 watts in CW mode.
I then went into menu #22 which is normally set at 025 which corresponds
with 5 watts output minimum. I tweaked it down to 005 to see if I could get
the minimum power output down to below 1 watt for QRPp. I got it down to 500
mw.
I then went to menu item #51 and pressed the up button which writes and
saves changes to the EPROM.
So now after I saved the settings, the LCD output power meter only
registered up to a maximum of 60 watts in CW mode, even though the rig was
putting out 125 watts, via my Autek Research WM1 SWR/power meter. The 60
watts output thing is normal if you change the power output settings on menu
#18 and #22 and then save them under menu #51.
So I went back into the service menu, returned the previously changed
settings under #18 and #22 back to factory settings, saved them to the EPROM
under #51 but the LCD output power meter still only reads up to a maximum of
60 watts in CW mode, even though my Autek WM! reads 100 watts.
So the question is how do I get the built in LCD power meter to read 100
watts again?
