TS940s.

The wire ended lamp B30-0817-15 are 14v @ 80mA and used in the S meter,
two are used.

The wire ended lamp B30-0835-08 are 9v @ 60mA (0.54w) and is the backlight
for the LCD display, two are used.

The LCD back light lamp dimensions are 3mm diameter and 7mm long. The
silicone rubber green caps are transferable from the originals to the
replacements. The Kenwood B30-0835-08 spare part came with a new green
silicone rubber cap, however, if you source the lamp from your local
eletronics spares outlet, transfer the green caps from your original
lamps.

Having obtained the lamps, you remove clock/LCD assembly, two counter sunk
screws on the top edge of the front panel. Then carefully undo the four
screws holding the LCD display board, and lift it away. I use foam sheet
as spacer and support when doing this kind of work.

You will then see the back of the LCD board with the wires at each end of
the board, where the back light lamps are inserted into holes in the
board. Using a solder sucker if possible, carefully unsolder the wires and
lift out the bulbs.

To prolong the replacement lamp life, you could insert a low value
resistor in series with one wire of each lamp, or perhaps use a 5v lamp,
with a series resistor, if you can find a wire ended 5v lamp of the same
dimensions and the same light output.

A little experiment on the bench, before you begin the work, will
determine if the lamps you find will do the job.
