[Kenwood] TM-221A question

Folks,

I'm clearing my shack of things I've stored for the past 20 years (if you
can imagine).

I had three 2m transceivers in a box - TM-221A, TM-231A, and TM-241A. At
different points over the past 20+ years, I've used them for mobile FM
radios, dedicated to the packet cluster network, or for APRS. They all
needed batteries (which I've replaced). And they all had LCD screens that
were displaying "junk" (all F or just everything in the display was lit and
you couldn't tell what you were tuned to). So. I fixed the TM-231A and
TM-241A by carefully mending the solder joints that connect the display
connector.

But I'm stuck on the TM-221A. No matter what I do, the display is stuck on
"backward F" in all positions.

Question:

. Is anyone familiar with this problem on the TM-221A?

I'm eventually going to pitch or sell all three to get rid of them.
Therefore, I'm not putting a lot of money into fixing it. (If someone wants
to fix it, gimme $5 and pay for shipping and I'll send it to you.
