should be easy to get the radio working again for the OM.

have you checked the condition of the band switch coupler
that is located inside the final cage? They will start to
crack and then the alignment of the bandswitch and the
shaft will cause reception and transmission problems.

you can replace it with a brass coupler from hardware store,
metal is not a problem because the actual shaft passes into
the metal final cage.
