[Kenwood] Troubleshooting TS-820S

In my experience, working on SS rigs like the TS-820S is not much different 
from working on tube gear.

The only thing I have to keep in MY mind is that voltage-differences which 
would not make one whit of difference in a piece of tube gear can make a 
vast difference in the way a trasistor works. I am talking about voltage-
differences as small as 0.1 Volt.

I am betting that that 24 V where you should be seeing zero volts is your 
problem, and the fact that the T/R relay is pulling in when the rig is turned on 
is the best indication of where to look.

I have a TS-820S here which I bought some time ago for use as my backup 
rig and have had to do some work on it. I am most familiar with tube gear, 
but working on this was easy for me.

BTW, I found PDF copies of both the operating and the service manuals for 
the rig on the web for free, although I cannot now tell you where I found 
those.

Neither manual is particularly helpful, though.
