[Kenwood] TS-820S

I have a recently acquired TS-820S which I wanted to use as my backup rig.

When in any mode, when switching the standby switch to SEND, in VOX, the 
rig keys on (I can hear a relay activate). This with no mic connected, no PTT 
activated, and when in CW, no key pressed, although one is plugged in.

All VOX controls set to full CCW.

When set to MANUAL, and in SEND, the rig is keyed on with no PTT or CW 
key activation.

Sounds to me as though the VOX is shorted, or something else is shorting 
the activation line to the S/R relay.

Anyone see this happen with their own rig? Solution?
