TRIO is what the Kenwood's were called anywhere but the USA IIRC.

Someone has offered me a *Trio* TS-940S with the antenna tuner and the SO-1
TCXO 
at a decent price. It has had some modifications done by Lowe Electronics
for 
AM, which apparently went beyond fitting the AM filter. As far as I can
tell,

1) AM filter fitted
2) Synthesiser noise reduced.
3) AGC off/slow/fast works in all modes
4) Filter bypassed in wide position, giving about 10 kHz bandwidth. (I
assume 
this is just in the AM mode).

I guess at that point one would have just the filter shape of the LC
filters.

Does anyone know anything about this mod performed by Lowe Electronics in
the 
UK? Did it do more harm than good?

The S/N on this unit is 7060081 but I'm told its an early model, as it has
the 
Trio name and not Kenwood on it.

I'm wondering if this could be a good buy as it has the TCXO, or a lemon as
it 
is an old model.
