[Kenwood] Help getting familiar with TM-2570A

I had a TM-2570 when Kenwood first brought them out back in the 1980s.  

A couple things:

1. The early 2570s had a bad swr problem until Kenwood came up with a mod.  I don't know what serial #s were affected, but mine was until I got the mod. 

2. I converted the lithium battery in the radio to a battery holder that allowed me to replace the battery by simply pulling the old one out and putting the new one in.

The SWR problem was a major headache with early models that may have just affected higher power units like the 2570 so I was told back then. The SWR  problem would just let me work repeaters in either the 146-148 or 144-146 parts of the 2 meter band. but not both, without shutting down to maybe 4 watts or so rather than 70 watts.  I'd have to retune the mobile antenna when I wanted to work the other part of the 2 meter band.  

The 2570 was a heck of a radio when it was working right and once I got the SWR problem fixed when Kenwood came out with the mod.  I could work repeaters near San Antonio MOBILE from the Dallas/Fort Worth area with a Larsen 5/8 wave 2 meter mag mount.  Some hams in SA didn't believe me until I sent them a 2 meter QSL card hi hi.
