[Kenwood] firmware update TS 480SAT

I have a 480 with a serial number of 80500057. I'd like to get the transmit audio a bit wider than its current 2.4KHZ. 0 would the latest update change anything in the transmit or receive audio? Is the update worth taking for any reason? could it be roled back if it made something on the rig worse. I'm totally blind and can't do the update myself since I can't see where the switch is inside the rig that you must flip to install the update but I do have sighted help. 
Also, in trying to remove the top cover of thi rig I slightly widened the head on one of the screws and can't remove itIs there a tool that could get this screw out? and where can I get replacement screws. Thanks and 73. Joe.
