[Kenwood] Remote link audio

Hi all,

 

I've put some thought into a problem and it's time to ask a question.

 

Problem:  When connecting to a remote radio, radio control has been
conquered but transporting remote audio to/from a local program is an issue.

 

My 'solution' is to have the remote audio appear on the local computer as a
soundcard.  A virtual soundcard would allow Ham Radio Deluxe or similar
programs could simply route their audio to the (remote) soundcard.  Add a
local mike and all modes are covered.

 

Questions:  Does such a system exist?  If not, why not?  (If you're a
designer/programmer, get busy.  It has more applications than ham radio.  A
virtual soundcard would also make net streaming and other uses easier.)

 

I'm aware of systems such as RemoteRig, but was looking for a simpler (and
cheaper) solution.
