[Kenwood] Tuning rate too fast on TS-940S

My 940 does about 12 kHz per revolution, which is fine most of the time.
When going several hundred kHz all at once (IE top of phone band to low end
of CW band), it's not as fast as I would like. Obviously, there is a
balancing point. For fine tuning stations, I wouldn't want it much faster
than the current rate. It would be difficult to zero beat the station I am
listening to.
The Geihl chip does more than just change the tuning rate. I wasn't aware of
this chip before now. Making the memories tunable is a neat idea. However,
changing the main tuning knob to slower rates than I have now is of limited
interest to me. And adding a feature to make the 1 MHz up and down buttons
change memory banks? Why? Pressing the memory bank buttons works pretty well
for me. Interesting chip though....
