[Kenwood] TH78A--Help

I am new to this reflector and need some help with my TH78A. I have found after a Google search that others have had similar "issues". The problem is the VHF band allows you to transmit but there is no receive audio. UHF band seems to be OK. I now have the radio apart on the bench (oh boy!!) looking for C406 & C420 that may be the problem as others have suggested. Kenwood tech support shows no bulletins issued for this problem.
