[Kenwood] TM-255A Power-Up Issues

Happy '11 all - wondering if anyone has thoughts on this. 

My TM-255A, which has led a sheltered and gentle life in the shack, has a power-up issue. If it is left unplugged overnight, it powers up with no problems. If I try to power it back on after turning it off, it will not power up. It also seems that if it is left a power source (i.e., power applied to the power leads, but radio turned off), it will not power back up until it has had a period of time completely off the power supply. 

The issue does not appear to be related to the connection between the radio's control head and chassis. 

Any thoughts welcome. 

If there isn't a DIY solution, does anyone have recommendations for anyone still servicing these radios? I'm assuming that Kenwood wouldn't touch it after so many years.
