Ken,
  You obviously have NOT worked on many stock 922  Amps. If you had, you 
would know that they constantly burn up the factory band switches. It is 
a known fact!!
Installing the new Multi-Tech band switch as well as doing ALL of Rich 
measures mods, greatly improves these amps.
Getting rid of the slow relays and converting to the ECBS as well as 
vacuum and reed relays really is a huge improvement.
These Amps as well as the SB-220 amps are Not factory engineered well.
A soft start has NOTHING to do with whatever Exciter is driving it. A 
soft start is to slow the inrush current when you turn the amp on!
I think you meant  "Soft Key", but hey, what do I know !  You seem to be 
the Expert.
Clif is a very knowledgeable fellow but he does make mistakes...Isn't 
that right Clif ?? Does the words " Pin Diode" help   LOL
Seriously, just because it " ain't broke" does not mean it can't be 
improved on.
