After putting off repairs to my 850S, I decided today to try to replace the
faulty 10pF cap... After spending too much time trying to install a new cap
from the top-side, I decided to try to remove the entire assembly for easier
access....
It was easy...there are 5 ground points that need to be de-soldered, and
since they are only one sided on the board, there was no problems with
de-soldering....The board and shield assembly only then requires the 3 wires
that feed from the board to the underside also be de-soldered, and then you
have the assembly in your hands and can properly replace the cap with no
damage to the coils....I did nudge both of them trying to work from the
top-side, but nothing too serious...
Now, my next question is:
Where can I find a source for the 10p variable that fits back in there..? I
was going to use a 2-12pF cap, but it didn't survive the attempts to mount
from the top...
I need 2 or 3 of these, and can pay via PayPal....anyone have any of
these...? Please advise...73...Jordan....VE6ZT
