I made two (plug to jack and jack to plug)
For the modular jack to 8 pin plug, I used a PCMCIA ethernet adapter plug.  They are pretty much throw away items now since most laptops have ethernet adapters built-in.  The RJ-45 jack had all 8 pins connencted.  I cut the card plug off and wired an 8 pin plug to it.

The RJ-45 plug to 8 pin jack was easy, just used a CAT-5 Ethernet cable.  Didn't even need to crimp the RJ-45 onto a cable.  I just cut a short section and soldered in an 8 pin jack to it.

The section is so short that even if wrong pairs are twisted together, the run is so short (a few inches) that it never had an effect whether it was in the car or in my "RF dirty" shack.

I am also interested in such an adaptor. Where does one find such a beast? 
I've done all kinds of searches, but all I get are adaptors from 8 pin to 
modular.
I need a modular plug to 8 pin jack adaptor.
