Leo,
Sounds like you and I are on the same page. Every year the crazies come out of the woodwork and proclaim that Kenwood is killing the ts-2000 and replacing it with something new. It never happens and at this point in time the ts-2000 has no competition. A marketing genius for Kenwood. Icom is coming out with something that covers the same bands as the ts-2000 however it will probably be in the $3000 plus range. I have a flex5000c that is awaiting a 2 mtr 70 cnt upgrade. That is a $7000 rig. I also have a ts-2000. I have had 6 ts-2000's over the past 8 years. I will always have a ts-2000. You can pick up a new ts-2000 for $1399 and if you look hard enough you can find a ts-b2000 for $700-$800. I love sky command!!!

the ts2000 is the model t of ham radio. a shack in the box that
everyone can afford and probably the most popular base-mobile rig ever
created. why would kenwood discontinue its gravy train?
