It does nothing other than clearing  the memory settings (like a "reset all")

Things you may want to do:
- Solder in a battery clip
- Better yet, run leads to a battery holder that is easier to get to than the present location
- Using a "jumbo" battery like a DL123 doesn't really help because the leakage rate (shelf life) will be about the same as the discharge rate (rated at about 10 years)
- Write the date that you changed the battery on the back of the radio or on the inside of the top cover.

I'm need to unsolder the battery to check the trace to the antenna tuner 
under it in my TS-450SAT.  Does it screw up anything other than resetting 
memories, etc, when taking the battery out?  Thanks and 73
