[Kenwood] Testing the RS-232 port?

I'm having  problems connecting my TS-850 to a serial port. I have an OEM
level converter and that might be suspect or it might be the TS-850 itself
(I need to check both the serial and interface cables too). Is there any
simple test that will give me an idea whether the TS-850s serial port itself
is likely to be OK (ie voltages on the 6 pin din or some hidden test mode?)
