[Kenwood] Tone on TS 850

On my TS-850, when I select the CW mode, there is a 1000 hz tone coming
through the speaker or the headset when plugged in AND the volume turned all
the way down.

As I turn the volume up, I can hear signals but at a reduced level because
the tone is still there. The tone does not increase in level as the volume
is turned up.

The other modes are fine.

Suggestions?
