[Kenwood] TS930 1.7Mhz power limiter?

Gentlemen,

I am currently working on a TS930SAT serial 400XXXX. The transmitter power
output into a Bird 50 ohm load is 100 watts plus across 3.5 -30 MHz, but on
1.7 MHz the power output is down to around 8 watts. However, if you
disconnect the ATU output lead from the "MAT" connector on the "switch unit
H" board assembly which is the one connected to the antenna output SO239
connector on the rear panel, then terminate the lead in 50 ohms and measure
the power into that load again, it measures 100 watts. 

 

I am assuming that this TS930SAT was imported into the UK when the maximum
transmitted power allowed in the UK was ten watts, and that may be the
reason the power output of this rig is reduced at 1.7 MHz. However, from the
TS930 system diagram two connectors/cables are shown going from the "switch
unit H"  to the Signal board, but there appears to be no reference to such a
power preset variation in the Kenwood service manual, and I would be
grateful if anyone can offer an explanation, or a link to the appropriate
Kenwood reference. Sincerely, John G3JVC.
