Hi all, I bought a Kenwood TS-930S at a ham fest over the weekend in mint condition. It hasn't been run in a very long time I think the previous owner said over 15-20 years, it was well taken care of and is very clean inside and outside. He told me I should put it on a variac and bring the voltage up very slowly to protect the filter caps. What do you guys think? I've had a lot of people tell me that radio shouldn't need that and should be fine to just plug it in and go. I'm looking for opinions, thoughts. For what I paid, I could do some work and replace things if I had to and still come out ahead but I sure don't want anything to go wrong and be my fault.
