[Kenwood] Giehl Chip for a TS-940S

I was looking for some insight into the chip that Jack Giehl, wb8bfs,
made for a TS-940s. 

His website is still up and running but there's no email address to
contact him.

Does he still make and sell them? 

Is it a worthwhile upgrade?

Any problems or issues that would make installation problematic?

Any comments appreciated.
