"It's alive! ....  It's alive! .... It's alive!" (Mel Brooks' "Young Frankenstein"). Glad to hear it, Erik.

Don't shortchange yourself regarding repair of a completely solid-state rig. Your determination to fix the rig is the most important tool you can have. At least try. True, there are some areas that will be daunting, but you may surprise yourself. Of course, you don't want to be a "fool that rushes in where angels fear to tread," but let commonsense be your guide and guardian -- and pray.  At age 71, I've managed to do some debugging and make modifications to my TS-850 recently, something I felt totally incapable of doing a year ago. And you've got lots of help available within the Yahoo group.

You have a right to be proud of your accomplishments.  Congratulations!

Hello all! My TS520S is alive thanks to the help and advice I got on
this list. Don't know if it's dead on freq, but I tuned it up into a
dummy load and got 150W PEP on 10m. I put it on a live antenna and
listened for a bit so I think I've got it sorted out now. The
bandswitch and AF gain crackles a bit when you turn it but that's a
project for another day. As soon as I get something in the air, I will
look forward to having a QSO with a few of you. Gosh the receive sounds
great! Can't wait to try transmit now..........

You know, if this had been an old completely solid state rig, I would
have been sunk. Surface mount stuff is out of my league and too small
for me to see. Long live the hybrids!

73s,
Erik
