[Kenwood] TS480 Mod question

Hi all,

I have a TS480HX and wondering if anyone has heard of a mod to convert the 
RF Squelch control
to a RF gain control.

No sure why the Squelch control is on the rig control panel and not in the 
menu system. Not sure
who uses it and why.
